Halo 3 Launch Party

Tags: ,

So I just got back from the Toronto Halo 3 Release Party. They had set up tents near the Best Buy at Younge & Dundas Square (Toronto’s Wannabe Times-Square) where you could play the game in ten minute 8vs8 rounds.

Bill and I talked our way into becoming VIPs and went inside to meet Pascal and the other guys from MLG Canada and we hung out, talked games, and played Halo 3 while I stalked the scene with my camera and mic set-up. I shot an hour of footage or so, so stay tuned for that (should be up by the end of the week).

Halo fans out there- you won’t be disappointed. Although we only played for short stints, the gameplay is the same as the other Halos, essentially. The graphics look better, including the HUD and gun recoil… I didn’t get a chance to try out the new vehicles all that much (I’m a Warthog fiend myself), but the Alien Tank seems to dominate the level every time. The main gun is back to the Halo 1 machine gun, which is good, and the weapons like the Razor seem to be retooled pretty well.

All in all, it’s definitely got some perks over the originals, and it feels like a Halo game… so I like it. I just wish my 360 hadn’t been stupid and broken, or I’d be playing it tomorrow.
