Hangovers make better screenwriters

BLLLLEEEECCCHHH!!

That’s been me all morning. Guess that’s the price for a night out drinking when you’ve already got a bad cold. Now I’m hungover and sick. Boo. On the bright side, I can stay in and work on my screenplays, which have been neglected for too long.

hiccup.

Where was I? Oh yes- what have I been up to? Why all the neglect? What cause to party while sick?

Well, last weekend was Nuit Blanche, an “art” event in downtown Toronto that goes from dusk until dawn and transforms different parts of the city into art. For example, the Gayborhood was turned into a facsimile of the Red Light District (which isn’t much of a stretch anyway); a field in the University of Toronto hosted a downed space-craft crash site; Queen’s Park was closed off for various artsy-themed tents… you get the point- art shit. Anyway, a friend of mine, Vanessa, who’s a fashion designer (she actually helped out on a couple of my shorts) was competing in a contest at one of the displays. My girlfriend, Amanda, as well as Jordan Akerman from French Onion were both models in her display (Jordan donning a dress again, ironically).

Long story short, last night, she found out she won! Hence the drinking. So Vanessa gets a bunch of stuff- cash prizes, a 2-page spread in Flare magazine, an appearance on Breakfast Television (with the models) and more more more and more. So special congrats to Vanessa, who totally deserves the win!
Prior to that, I’ve been meeting frequently with Saveslot and planning out videos for the near future. We covered the Halo 3 launch party, to which the video is a few posts below. I’m pretty much the “video guy” in the group, so anytime we need to make videos, I guess I’m the guy.

But between the Toronto Film Festival in September, small projects, Saveslot, and preparations for the next batch of sketches for The Poke Show, I’ve barely had time to write… these blog posts alone take up a couple hours (when combined with my ADD), speaking of which… instead of continuing this inane ramble, I’m going to go work on my script, bitch!
