Heroes is getting good again!

Tags: ,

Thankfully since my disappointment with the season premiere of Heroes, the show has been getting better and better. Peter is suffering from amnesia and stuck in an Irish Mob film, which I’m hoping will end soon. Also, Hiro is similarly trapped in a Kurosawa flick with Sir Robin the Brave on a predictable, but lovable (who can’t love that adorable Hiro? I want one! Where can I buy a Japanese boy? Ahh, ahem…) character arc.
But every other character has found neat little plot lines that are evolving slowly into a more cohesive central plot for season 2. I like what they’re doing with Parkman, weaving him into the main plotline with his father and all. Sylar and the Mexicans (South Americans, actually, I think) and making for the border together in a stolen vehicle… could lead to some coolness there. Horned-Rim Glasses is loosing a bit of his edge, but it kind of makes him funnier… like if Arnold were do to “Kindergarten Terminator” as a comedy about an ex-commando robot who has to babysit daycare. That’s what I’m hoping happens with the Bennets… Mr. Bennet should drink a can of toxic ooze that causes him to become all muscle-y and talk like Arnold and get mad dealing with little kids. Yeah.
In any case, I’ve settled into enjoying it again, but have made a solid conclusion… Heroes is great at the set-ups, but needs to work on the punches. I found both the season 1 finale and the season 2 premiere episodes to be a bit paltry… but only because I now compare everything to the premieres and finales of Lost. There needs to be intensity, intrigue and pay-off in the season caps! Shake it up! I loved in season 1 of Heroes where Hiro went into the future where Sylar is the president- episodes like that made some of the other Hero plotlines pretty dull by comparison!

But goddamn it, I can’t turn away from this show! Heroes is one of the best shows out there, but may collapse under it’s own wait because it didn’t have the pacing strategy that Lost has. Let’s hope it doesn’t. Hey, when do we get to see Kevin Smith’s gay heroes in Origins?
