King Lear 2000

Made for a high-school project, we present the first official Supergun Film, free for all to download. Unfortunately, the high quality version is unavailable at the moment, so don't hold your breath.

A much abbreviated, bastardized version of King Lear, King Lear 2000 is a random smattering of scenes from the play, turned into a Pythonesque farce.

Like my hair? The guys at Gold's Gym said it was AWSOME!After Banishing Cordelia to France, King Lear is banished by his daughters Regan and Goneril, and wanders the wilderness looking for stuff to do. Meanwhile, the treacherous Edmund tricks his father into banishing his brother Edgar. Edgar disguises himself as a classic comicbook superhero to penetrate the kingdom and reclaim his throne.

This revered Supergun Cinema gem was a video presentation for English class. After the local acclaim of Hamlet, (and the fact that Geoff, Harmeet and Denis were in the same class) it was decided that an unofficial sequel would be their final project. After receiving an assignment, Denis ran home, cracked open a bottle of mysterious "Orange Liquor" and began penning the script on his Shakespeare encyclopedia. The script took excerpts from the Shakespearean play in order to make a comparative analysis on the lack of a female parental figure in the lives of the tragic heroes, and combined them with the drunken silliness of retro-pop culture references.

In short, a bizarre kind of comedy was born. This 30min slapstick Shakespeare adaptation follows the stories of King Lear (Denis Logan) and Edgar (Denis Logan) as they seek to dethrone the tyrant Edmund (Zafar Raja).

Featuring such memorable lines as:

He loved sheep in every way a man could."Edmund was only two when your mother left! How would you know anyhow?" -Gloucester (Harmeet Bindra)

"Goneril is coming!" -Cast

"Why? Why, God, why? I am a man more sinned against, than the sinning!" -King Lear (Denis Logan)

"I'm dead!" -Osric (Mike Venner)

Originally, Bill Stepec was cast as Edgar, and even filmed a whole scene in character, but due to a sudden visit to Grandma, the role had to be re-cast and the scene re-shot the next day with Denis in the dual lead.

The Batman mask worn in this movie cost a lot of money, and Denis' mom threw it out. She still owes Harmeet's dad $70, but neither parent knows it!

Ryan Gilhooly received 3 bloody noses due to Ben Davis smashing him into a break-away table.

Director Geoff Meech swore it would be the last Shakespeare film SGC was going to do.

There have been a total 6 break-away tables in Supergun cinema productions.

Bill showed up on the final shoot date to participate in the climactic battle, but his choreographed opponent ignored him, so he spent the entire battle running around with a crowbar, attacking invisible aliens.

This film featured the first use of SGC Wake-Up Juice. Check back soon for the recipe.

Hamlet: The Original Motion Picture

Official Entry in the Toronto International Teen Movie Festival 2002.

Limited release on VHS.

The full 15-min Hamlet is unavailable for download, but you can watch the trailer:

But that doesn't mean we won't tell you what we're talking about... read on...

Hamlet was arguably one of Shakespeare's most confusing characters; you don't know whether he wants to live or die, kill or spare, think or do... and after watching Hamlet: The Original Motion Picture, you'll be as confused as Hamlet was!

In Claudius' backyard Hamlet duels Laertes for sport, but when the jester dies, mud flies, and Hamlet goes on a full-frontal rampage of death!

By: Bill Stepec

So when I say "Hamlet" what do you think of? A small town? A long-winded monologue? A way to mispronounce "hatchet"? No! You think of a bunch of rich people beating the living crap out of each other, because they have nothing better to do. As such, Supergun Cinema has done the world a great service by re-creating Hamlet, Act 5, Scene 2 in it's own image. Hamlet is now the 13-minute snuff film Shakespeare was obviously thinking of when he invented storytelling. It has speeches, fighting, digital daggers, lazer swords, dead clowns, free pizza, and even a real working throne!

Originally made for Geoff Meech's High-School English class, Hamlet has received a warm welcome from the International Teen Film Festival in Toronto, and is currently collecting dust on shelves across the country. It enjoyed a limited release on VHS, and ultimately spawned the conglomeration we've all come to know as Supergun Cinema.

I'm not a geek, I'm a level 24 paladin!Starring Bill Stepec as Hamlet, Denis Logan as Laertes, Geoff Meech as Claudius, Chris Bohren as Court Jester, and Mike Venner as Smiling Buffoon (Osric), the film was shot in Geoff's backyard, and destroyed all of his greenery. Denis also got the opportunity to lie in cat poo while spitting blood, which he did so tactfully, you'd swear he's done it before. This was also Geoff's first run at the director's chair (aside from a fan-made mentos commercial), and thus has a special place in his heart.

Dennis. Menacing. At Nothing."I've loved many films over the years," I often imagine Geoff Saying, "But I've never loved anyone as much as I do Hamlet." I'm sure he meant to say he's never loved any movie as much as Hamlet.

Anyhow - Hamlet was an absolute blast to film, a bitch to edit (I'd imagine), and features some of the best uses of Klingon Battle music since the late 60's.

"This movie is just perfect," Geoff used to say, "I'm never doing Shakespeare again." Be sure to watch for it as a possible special feature on the MacBeth 3000: This Time It's Personal DVD.
